Concerning the RGs, I'm not sure if the Redcoats are in timeline, since they only appeared since the late 17th century, which is actually out of timeline.

Let's take a look at the English unit roster:

I - Pikeman ---> Colonial Pikeman (II)
I - Longbowman ---> Colonial Longbowman (II)
II - Musketeer ---> Veteran Musketeer (III) ---> Guard Musketeer (IV) ---> Imperial Musketeer (V)
II - Arquebusier ---> Veteran Arquebusier (III) ---> Guard Arquebusier (IV) ---> Imperial Arquebusier (V)

II - Hussar ---> Veteran Hussar (III) ---> Queen's Royal Hussar (IV) ---> Imperial Queen's Royal (V)
III - Ironside ---> Guard Ironside (IV) ---> Imperial Ironside (V)

II - Grenadier ---> Veteran Grenadier (III) ---> Guard Grenadier (IV) ---> Imperial Grenadier (V)
III - Falconet ---> Saker (IV) ---> Imperial Saker (V)
III - Minion ---> Culverin (IV) ---> Imperial Culverin (V)
IV - Mortar ---> Imperial Mortar (V)

There's still 1 RG missing. First I thought to let them have the generic Carabineer with an Ironside RG upgrade, but then they would lack a UU... any ideas?

Eh get rid of 'colonial' units. Your mod concept is set in Europe not in the Americas. Razz

Well, you could have 'Cavalier' as an RG for the Hussar. Actually, come to think of Hussars, it's probably best to replace them with a new generic melee cavalry unit, as Hussars only really came to Western Europe in the late 18th century.

I found nothing about it.

But I find this when I search about Coistrel:

A Wikipedia Contributor wrote:Man-at-arms (also called armsman or coistrel) was a term used from the High Medieval to Renaissance periods to describe a soldier, almost always a professional warrior in the sense of being well-trained in the use of arms, who served as a fully armoured heavy cavalryman.

Coistrel comes from French word, Coustillier, which in English has the same meaning with squire, sword bearer.

The Eighty Years' War, which was the Dutch War of Independence, lasted from 1563 to 1643. However, by 1600 the United Provinces had already gained such a strategic advantage over the Spanish that it was almost certain that the Northern Netherlands were going to remain in Dutch control (and so they did), and the fighting had turned to Brabant and Flanders.

Re: Age of Empires III: The Thirty Years' War

Post by iliander on Wed 21 Dec 2011 - 5:55

Thanks.

I'm still struggling with the new Age names, I have this rather pathetic start already:

Discovery Age | Dark Age
Colonial Age | ...
Fortress Age | ...
Industrial Age | Royal Age
Imperial Age | Imperial Age

I can't seem to find a good replacement for Age II and III. I'm not sure what should come beneath "Royal", if you would follow the same logic for above "Royal" ("Imperial").

And for the German Culture (the Age I units and Artillery are the same for every culture):

I - Pikeman ---> Professional Pikeman (II) ---> Veteran Pikeman (III)
I - Crossbowman ---> Professional Crossbowman (II) ---> Veteran Crossbowman (III)
II - Zweihander ---> Veteran Zweihander (III) ---> Royal Zweihander (IV) ---> Imperial Zweihander (V)
II - Uskok ---> Veteran Uskok (III) ---> Royal Uskok (IV) ---> Imperial Uskok (V)

II - Hussar ---> Veteran Hussar (III) ---> Royal Hussar (IV) ---> Imperial Hussar (V)
II - Reiter ---> Royal Reiter (IV) ---> Imperial Reiter (V)
III - War Wagon ---> Royal War Wagon (IV) ---> Imperial War Wagon (V)

II - Grenadier ---> Veteran Grenadier (III) ---> Royal Grenadier (IV) ---> Imperial Grenadier (V)
III - Petard ---> Fougasse (IV) ---> Imperial Fougasse (V)
III - Falconet ---> Saker (IV) ---> Imperial Saker (V)
III - Minion ---> Culverin (IV) ---> Imperial Culverin (V)
IV - Mortar ---> Imperial Mortar (V)

I like the ideas but why:
III - War Wagon ---> Royal Lancer (IV) ---> Imperial Lancer (V)
Question Question Question
