Do you think that ES should've kept the features visible on the early screenshots?

Mysterious Screenshots

Post by iliander on Sun 7 Aug 2011 - 6:27

Like peugeot407 did on WotTA, I will now create a topic for it on K&B!

Here're some mysterious screenshots taken by ES in the early days:

Spoiler:
It looks like there're some weird and unused units near the wagon... Anyway, this screeny is ugly.

Spoiler:
Halberds pointing upwards!!! And is that... Morgan Black together with 3 time President Washington, Stuart Black and Kanyenke?

Spoiler:
I can see some mysterious red plants, and why aren't there tiny rivers like these in the final version of the game?

Spoiler:
BONEGUARDS??? And again... Halberds pointing to the sky!!! Even the Cavalry looks strange. Oh... And should I mention the Russian Longbowmen?

Spoiler:
Those swimming Alligators look so lovely, but the Canoes are plain ugly.

Spoiler:
All those special buildings! And a weird Outpost(?) in the distance! Also, why do the Musketeers have those weird hats?

Spoiler:
Boneguards!!! And look at the beautiful tower at the left!

Spoiler:
Why isn't there a day/night cycle?

Spoiler:
Mysterious walls and towers!!!

Spoiler:
Boneguards again...

Thanks all!

I just don't get it why the Russians had Longbowmen, or maybe the English had the Russian architecture, and an Archery range as a building... ???

But those swimming Alligators should've been in...

Well, a lot of units and buildings are actually shipped with the game. A short list:

- Halberd anims. I believe they still exist.
- The Trading Post, Livestock Pen and House from the sixth screenshot. The TC and Tower aren't in though, and that's a shame.
- The walls from your second-to-last screenshot did make it in, but not the wall corners.

Now for some things that strike me about these screenshots:

- That Crossbowman texture in the middle of your first screenie is absolutely lovely, or at least would be for K&B.
- The heavy cavalry unit from screens 2 and 4 definitely should have been in.
- Those Galleon textures are much better than the ones shipped with the game.
- The stream from the 3rd screenie would have been excellent. Even if it wouldn't have any use, it would greatly add to the eyecandy value of random maps.

Yeah, I also think about those wooden outpost and the outpost that looks like tower in AOE II. They'll be good for KnB though.

I don't know why, but Iliander has more chivalry than me...

But 1 question still flying in my mind: What is the subject of the screenshot?

off topic:
Spoiler:
Absolutely, in fact, yes.

It's funny you know, I actually have that crossbowman texture in my game, it's part of a mod though, but not the one you're thinking...
