Yes, I knew that. Also the Trojan Horse was a myth in the beginning...

No, a myth is just a name they give to ancient stories which look impossible. They are no different than "real" ancient history, they just contain some elements which they today find impossible to be true.

Let's get things straight. Mythology, is usually legends and stories that is part of that nation's religions. Folklore, is usually legends and stories, that in not part of a nation's religion.

Yes, you're right. But not completely, what about Norse folklore?

No such thing. It's just Norse Mythology.

For us Finns, it's very hard to see the difference of Mythology and Folklore. Our national epic "Kalevala" contains many myths, but it has also huge impact on Finnish culture, literature, history, art, etc, which is natural for Folklore. So, is it Mythology, Folklore, or both?

Did you know that Chile is the only American country with an epic? How cool is that! It's name is "the Araucaniad" It's theme is, well, the early days of the Arauco wars.
Chilean mythology is pretty varied, since our territory is extense and our climate varied, our isolationist terrain also makes us reclusive and gave us little contact wich was helpful to nurture a varied amount of myths.
From the north there's the Yastay wich is a Llama man that's protector of all llama kind (really) and the alicanto, wich is a golden bird wich protects mines.

From the center we've got more spanish things (since it's the most populated zone) here we've got stuff like La Llorona (some kind of banshee) or El Chon Chon. (a flying vampiric head who is detached from some kind of warlock, weird stuff)

A theme throughout the entire nation is the city of the caesars (A kind of El Dorado in the Andes), various expeditions have been made to find it throughout the centuries as well as various origin myths and what does it contain really, it's really a mysterious place

Finally in the far south we've got these guys they are no myth, they really dressed (when they dressed) like that, I believe the less I say about them, the better... Damn Shadow!

The El Chon Chon reminds me of an Indonesian vampire...
